Gabe’s handpan journey began sometime in 2018. As a professional drummer/percussionist and educator for over 30 years, He wanted to challenge himself by learning a new instrument.
One day, Gabe discovered a YouTube video of a musician playing an instrument shaped like a turtle shell. He later discovered that instrument was called a handpan. This was the first he had seen this type of instrument, but he was intrigued by its sound.
Gabe spent the next year researching the instrument. He listened to a variety of handpans to determine the best sound that resonated with his playing. He eventually found the handpan with the perfect timbre and scale that would allow hime to express himself in a new way.
